Our Pili Essential Oil (Canarium ovatum)
is locally harvested and distilled in the Philippines. The resin is
both farmed and wildcrafted in the southern regions of Luzon. In the
past, only Canarium luzonicum trees are the main source of
Elemi. Nowadays, with the improvement of harvesting methods, aromatic
resin can also be harvested from the fruit bearing Pili trees (Canarium ovatum).
These trees bear larger fruits and nuts which are of economic
importance to people in the Bicol region. Pili tree trunks are given
careful incisions to produce sap and these are gathered to be distilled.
We have an in-house distillation equipment that extracts the essential
oil. The result is a fresh, lemony and spicy smelling essential oil perfect for blending with other oils.
Currently the demand for Pili Essential Oil of Canarium ovatum is quite low. Due to the lack of awareness of the difference between Canarium ovatum and Canarium luzonicum, resin harvested from both species are sometimes mixed with each other. Our sources of Canarium ovatum resin harvests only from Canarium ovatum trees.
